Sarah Bugosi Kiboli, the commissioner Special needs and inclusive education at the ministry of education and sports, Daniel Alenyo the principal of examinations at UNEB ,Prosper Muhumuza commissioner at the ministry of Gender (disabilities) together with other experts from the educational system and disability organizations , launched the distribution of assistive devices under the “All We See Is Possibility Program” on 27th July 2022 to 31 schools,7 hospitals and 2 Universities in Uganda.
This happened at our offices in Ntinda Church road.
The devices were donated to students who are visually impaired and other disabilities by the Royal Dutch Visio , these included, the focus blue braille, Embosser, talking calculators, merlin clear reader ,desktops among others.
The commissioner Special Needs ,Sarah Bugosi said that, this is a very good act because it will improve the performance of learners with special needs who have been failing to perform better due to lack of these equipments.
“The learning has not been very effective if a student is waiting for others to come and read for them, then there’s a gap, most can also listen but may not understand, we have agreed to take up the issue to the senior management of the Ministry of Education, to let them appreciate what is at hand, I know after this, we shall have more learning equipment going to schools procured by government,” she said.
Esther Kyozira the CEO (NIDIPU) expressed her happiness towards this achievement and advocated for efforts to train the teachers and children how to use these equipments so that they don’t get wasted.
